Quilting and Stuff by Knitnoid

Author Archives: Pam

I made my first quilted item as a visual aid for a math project in 7th grade. Over the next 25 years quilting was hit or miss, but quilting took over all the other crafts I've done in 2003.

Halloween Spiders in the Mail

This Halloween fabric came in the mail today from a friend.  She does not like spiders – so much so that she reported that she threw the whole bundle in the trash.  When I heard that I asked her to send it to me.

I’m not sure what I’m going to do with this yet.  I don’t have a whole lot of Halloween fabric.  I think I’m going to send her some of this Disney Halloween fabric in exchange.

I purchased it to make a Stack-n-Wack quilt, but I think the motifs are too far apart.

What’s On My Design Wall

Since I put away my JT2 blocks, all that is left on my design wall are my leader/ender spool blocks and my Tetris quilt top.  There should be no reason at all why the top has not been quilted — except I couldn’t figure out how to quilt it.  My original plan went out the window when I changed the design.

The good news is late last night I figured it out — sort of.  At least enough to attempt to work on it after I get off from work tonight.  You can see what others have on their design wall over at Patchwork Times.

JT2 – 43, 44 & 45

I forgot to take pictures before I started sewing the blocks together.  Bear Paw (43) and Aeroplane (44 & 45).  This gives me the 3 blocks for Sept 1st, plus 6 make up blocks.  That give me one week to do something else before the next set is released.

Stash Report

Last week I worked primarily on my Just Takes Two blocks.  Six were made — 3 from the Sept 1st release plus 3 blocks toward catch up.  I have three more blocks cut out, but those will go in next week’s report.  I almost forgot about the fabric I used for the Christmas Star.   Even though I’ve been off work all week, I’ve avoided all places to shop for fabric.

JT2 – Blocks # 35 & 37

JT2 – Block 29

This is Block 29 of Just Takes 2.  It’s called Cathedral Window.  I used paper piecing, traditional piecing and the Quilt in a Day flying geese rulers.

There’s 93 pieces in this 15″ block.  I thought I’d never get it finished.

One Hour – Day Three

One hour is about all my wrist can take.

At the Antique Mall

None of them came home with me.

One Hour – Day Two

This afternoon I thought I’d watch my quilting time by checking my watch.  I thought about it last night but not until I had been quilting for a bit, not to mention my watch was sitting on my desk in the other room.

Progress today is the center melon, the other side of the arc and less than 1/4 of the center of the ring.

Part of my time was spent threading my needles so I don’t have to stop between needles.

When the episode of NCIS finished I stopped quilting for the day.  Now to find supper.  The side bar is updated and when Bonnie posts Day Two, I’ll update this LINK.

Christmas Star

This is one of the UFO blocks from I think July.  It’s still too big, but I’m so over it.  This quilt will be a challenge to put together anyway so what’s another challenge.
