Love the way your block turned out and grows into a quilt. I’ve not tried to change seams in a block, have enough trouble putting them together like it says. Am a person that must have a pattern. Thanks for this chance!
I’m just now starting to design my own quilt patterns. I don’t have EQ, but want to get it soon. I just have a hard time justifying spending so much money on the program when I don’t have my own computer. I doubt one of my kids wants a quilt pattern on their computer 🙂 Mom would never get off the computer then! So, not only would I have the expense of the EQ program, but I’d have the expense of a new computer too! One day… I love watching people design and reading about the thought process that goes into it. Love your quilt and can’t wait to see the whole thing finished up.
great job in EQ, I often changed blocks around and add seams, I’ve seen this block and thought the same thing…. I LOVE EQ….. your layout is awesome, looks totally different on point like that!
Thanks for the fun blog. Love the block. I dont’ know if I’ve changed seam lines before or not because lots of times when I see a block I love I print it off and make up my own way of making it. So it could be the right way or probably a harder way is the way I get mine done. LOL.
I love your block! Thanks for the details on how to make it :o) I have never re-designed a block for easier piecing – no EQ and drawing it out seems more difficult then just piecing it!
I have changed blocks for easier piecing. I can’t see the point of sewing two 2.5 inch squares of the same fabric together when I can use a 2.5 x 4.5 inch rectangle. I have modified other pieces, but never anything too radical. I am not a master of FMQ so I tend to stitch in the ditch so I’m concerned how changing the size of the pieces affect the quilting lines.
Thanks for the great tutorial. After seeing how many people are creating great blocks with EQ, I want my own.

Love your blocks. They are breath-taking. Sure, I change seam lines all the time to make pieceing easier. Some blocks are hard, but if I break them down, I find they are a lot easier to make. The results are the same, just the pieceing is different.

I love your take on the 9-patch! It is lovely alone and beautiful in the quilt layout. I have taken seam lines out and added some in to make things work easier. Sometimes it just helps to make it simpler. Nice work.
