Since my primary goal of the challenge has been met, I’m on to the next goal. Catching up on the BOM. There are 24 6-inch blocks in this quilt, with each block containing 28 pieces — 13 of which make up the center 3-inch square. I started off the day cutting the pieces for all 6 of the blocks in this colorway. The tiny 1″ square in a square went together nicely, then I put on the next ring. Let’s just say one of these 6 units does not look like the others and unfortunately it was the one that was correct.
I mistakenly put the blue triangles on first. Given the block I was making I couldn’t just leave it, so there was a bit of ripping and cutting of new blue triangles. Once the center units of my blocks were complete, I went on to small flying geese.
Having gotten tired of messing with tiny blocks, I pulled out the next two 12-inch blocks. They felt huge.
After looking at the remaining 12-inch blocks I have in my possession, I called it a day. Two of them are paper pieced (foundation) and I need to make copies of the blocks, but my printer is not cooperating, one has “hundreds” of English Paper Pieced diamonds in it – actually it’s only 53, but not a quick piece, and two of them have some tricky piecing that requires concentration.
I think my goal for tomorrow will be to finish the 2nd set of 6-inch blocks and one of the ‘tricky’ 12-inch blocks and perhaps a pillowcase.
