Last year at the guild auction, I won the 2014 Moda Modern Building Blocks pattern cards. I thought one of these days I’ll make it. Then I had the idea of making a quilt with 65 blocks for my 65th birthday – then custom quilting it. The collection only has 48 blocks in it and it measures 84″ x 96″. I’d like a quilt to fit my bed, or 108″ x 108″. I’ve found a way to get to 65 blocks and the size – although I’m not sure what blocks I’ll be making yet. I’ll worry about that when I get there. I have 2 years to finish this quilt.
To start, I’ve made a test block for Block #1. This is massive. 36″ square. I plan to use it for a practice quilting piece. Two seams are still needed. I didn’t get them sewn as Gracie started yelling at me to shut down.
When it’s time to shut down the quilt studio, she sits at the door and tells me. This picture was taken the night before when I was finishing up the quilting on Shenandoah. But she does this every night I’m in the studio.
