Quilting and Stuff by Knitnoid

Busy Weekend

I started writing this post Monday.  I’m just now getting it posted. Ugh.

Last week there were two shop hops in the area.  One was the Ad Astra Adventures, which included 10 shops over northeast Kansas – 286 miles round trip.  The other was The Heartland Hop with just two stores – one on each side of the stateline. Fortunately the stores were open late and we had 5 days to hit them all.  I divided it up in to 3 trips, starting Thursday night.

Due to budgetary constraints, I limited myself to 2 FQ at most of the shops – a neutral and a bright. There were a few exceptions. Three of the shops had fill a bag of scraps.  I bought or won as a door prize the scraps on the right. I picked up yardage to finish the Alphabet BOM, and at the last store I picked up notions.  Each shop also had a spin and win door prize.

I’ve already started playing with my new fabric.

This is Cascade by Cluck Cluck Sew. The pattern has two sizes of blocks — the smaller ones are used to make a crib quilt, the larger a lap quilt.  Naturally I’m changing it up a bit. I’m using the smaller blocks to make a larger quilt – however far my 2 yards of black fabric will take me. I see now that I need to be careful with my tone-on-tone fabrics. I need to make sure there is some movement in them.

I’ve also pulled out my Star-A-Day stuff and have cut 7 new stars and have 3 more sets of points looking for background and coordinating points. 13 stars and another 4 sets of points. After I took this picture I found another set of star pieces and another set of points.  Now to sit down and stitch a couple.

Finally, I finished the cat quilt, but I don’t have a good picture yet.

I’m trying to keep the cat hair off the quilt until I have help to hang it outside to get a good picture. I figured on the bed with the door shut was a good way to do that.
