Quartered Square is Bound!

Quartered Square is bound! Nothing like having a baby quilt ready months in advance.  I still need to put a label on the quilt, but that will occur after the baby (my great niece) is born after the first of the year.

  • Started 8/6/26
  • Finished 8/16/26
  • 45 1/2″ x 45 1/2″
  • Glide 40wt in Magic Mint
  • E2E Espalier
  • Susie’s Magic Binding

My plans were to get the Magnolia Shenandoah bound.  The binding is on the quilt, but when I went to stitch it down I discovered I attached it to the wrong side of the quilt.

I briefly thought I go ahead and stitch is down, but I really want that pop of blue on the front.  So, tonight after the guild meeting I’ll be hanging out with my seam ripper.

Quartered Square Top is Complete!

If you need a fast quilt and have a striped fabric, Quartered Square by Missouri Star Quilts is your pattern. I picked up the fabric Sunday afternoon and finished the top and still got to watch most of the baseball game. Admittedly the game didn’t start until after 9 PM my time, but I was done by 10:15 PM.

My first choice of backing from my stash wasn’t long enough — even with a diagonal seam. The second piece I pulled would work, but I wasn’t in love. This morning I looked in the cabinet and found this piece. It will only be 4″ wider than my top, but I’ll make it work.  I’ll get it pieced tonight, then make a decision on the thread color – Cotton Candy, Magic Mint, or Strawberry Blonde. All of them work.
