More Tops

This is my entry for the Roll the Dice, the QBHD President’s Challenge.  The idea is the 1st roll is the color and the 2nd is the theme.  My rolls resulted in Green and Squares/Rectangles. I took the assignment at face value.  The green squares and rectangles I was able to pull from my pre-cut boxes. No fabric repeats.

Teddy Bear Picnic will be the backing.  I have just enough fabric to make this work if I am very, very careful.

This is my Disappearing Hourglass. Apparently it only wanted to be 12 blocks.  Earlier this year I sewed my HST together wrong and didn’t discover it until I had cut the block. Then I cut another block at the wrong size.  I purchased more fabric and started making blocks.  The first block I had no issues.  Then I cut the next one wrong.  With no fabric to replace the block I cut wrong I decided 12 blocks was enough. Sewed them together, added the border and started loading it on the longarm.  I found a cut off in my backing scraps to make the backing and 2 pieces of batting to make a frankenbatt. I plan on quilting this in Celery.

Guild Challenges

I belong to two local quilt guilds, Brandon Quilters and Quilters By Hearts Desire. Both of these guilds have a President’s Challenge.  This year the Brandon Quilters challenge to to make pillowcases to give with our community quilts.  So this is the year I will finally get these pillowcases made.  My notes indicate I kitted these up for donation in 2018 to make for my previous guild.  Who knows why they didn’t get made.

The Quilters By Hearts Desire challenge is “Roll of the Dice”.  I found this challenge last summer at the Minnesota Quilt Show.  Each member rolled a pair of dice. I rolled a 3 and a 4, so my options were the design element of Rectangles/Square and the dominate color of Green or flipping it Involving Strips/Strings and Blue.  I opted for the first choice.

Both of these challenges have been added to my 2026 list of goals.
