Stash Report

sewscrappy

Another week with lots of cutting but numbers not moving. I think I have everything cut for Sew Scrappy. If I don’t I just need 1-1/2″ strips and I’ll toss the extra that are cut into my project box. If I need more than that I think I’ll be in a good place to find something to add to the quilt.

With all of the cutting, I’ve been able to put my Kansas Trouble Quilters fabric box in order.sewscrappykts

There’s enough fabric for at least 1 queen size quilt and I’d guess possibly two. Perhaps if I get all 4 of the quilts tops I’ve cut out finished at the retreat I’ll pull out my KTQ patterns and use some more of this fabric. But if I don’t, it’s nice and orderly for when I do get that far.

Stash Report

My rotary cutter has had a workout.  I’ve gotten about 70% of the fabric cut for the 3 Disappearing 9-patch quilts I’m making, but since I only count the fabric when I finish a top, it will be a couple of weeks before this get counted.  Hopefully I’ll be able to count it by mid-June.

So, no change in my numbers.

Stash Report

A big finish and a near finish finally has my numbers going in the correct direction.

This past week I finished Eye Fooler so I can count all of the fabric — top, backing, binding and the pillowcase.  That’s 16 3/4 yards!  Additionally, I quilted Orca Bay so I am counting the backing this week as well.

The only thing I bought last week is flower head pins — ran out about midnight pinning the quilts to the zippers!  Good thing Walmart is open 24 hours around here (or not — I think I spent $25 and I only wanted a $5 box of pins!)

Apparently I can’t garden and quilt at the same time.  I STILL don’t have the graduation quilt done, so last week I pinned Orca Bay to the zippers, but then couldn’t get away from work for my long-arm date.  So, I have a marathon date with the long arm this week to quilt both quilts.

Stash Report

Yes, the numbers are up again and I’m still not counting anything out.  But next week I’ll be able to count all of the fabric for the graduation quilt, including the backing (and binding?) as I’m quilting it on Thursday afternoon. Nothing like a date with the long arm to finish up a quilt. The following week I’ll use a good bit of the orange fabric I purchase last week as the backing of Orca Bay as I have another date with the longarm.

I haven’t done a stash report in a while simply because the numbers haven’t changed. I knew the numbers would change this week, I simply had no idea by how much.

The border fabric for the graduation quilt was finally purchased, but I haven’t finished the top yet. This was anticipated. What was completely unexpected was the generous gift of my friend’s scraps. Over 35 pounds!  For one of my future quilts I need a length of red fabric and I found it in the boxes. So, that quilt will move up on my list.

Stash Report

The primary thing I’ve been working on this past week is the Stars.  All of that a fabric will get counted when the top is complete — which at this rate will be August 2016, not August 2015 — but I’m having fun picking out fabrics from my scraps.  I might have fabric to report next week.  I’m gearing up, at least in my head to quilt my Orca Bay.

I’m considering quilting it in concentric circles — but I’m not sure there is enough space on my sewing machine. I’m confident there is on the treadle, but I’m equally confident that I’m not coordinated enough to treadle, stitch a smooth curve and wrestle a large quilt at the same time. It almost makes me want to see about getting the motor rewired just to try.

Stash Report

I have fabric to report as used this week.  The sashing and cornerstones for the red, white & blue samplers and the bit used for the Boston Common layout of Star Struck.

Stash Report

A year or so ago I picked my sister up from work and was surprised at the number of thrift shops in the neighborhood. I made a note to visit them and yesterday, with it being such a gorgeous day, I wanted out of the house and decided it was time.  Except, apparently they weren’t where I thought they were – which is a good thing for my stash report.

No fabric in and no countable fabric out.  Perhaps next week.  I’ve been working on the graduation quilt, ok, that won’t be done next week, but I pulled out a couple of sets of blocks and I’m in the process of setting them together.

Stash Report / February Recap

gradquilt-pieces

A whole lot of fabric passed under my needle this past week – the majority of it at the retreat Friday and Saturday. Most of the units needed for the blocks for the graduation quilt  are made.  I still need all of the HST in both sizes and the triangle in a square units for the outer blocks. That pile in the top right corner is the start of the block assembly.

350 Blocks Report at Prairie Moon Quilts

I reported 23 blocks.  I counted the Orca Bay pieced border as 10 and I finished 13 stars.

I have nothing to show for the UFO Parade at 52 Quilts in 52 Weeks. Orca Bay only made it to the top stage.
