Now to pick colors for my next quilt.
It’s time to list my 2nd quarter finish along projects. Of all the projects listed for the first quarter, I only finished the Tetris wall hanging. If I’m going to completely finish 15 or 16 projects this year and complete 7 flimsies, I need to do better this quarter.
So, left to right top to bottom:
As I did last quarter, I’m listing the quilts that I’ve decided to finish or may finish before the year is up. I tend to wander in my quilting, so who knows what I’ll really work on this quarter. I can say that the Music Baby Quilt is first on the list. My best guess after that is Eeyore, the shawl, Scrappy Trips and Deadline II – that is if something new doesn’t pop up.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve done any sewing beyond piecing quilts, that it took me a week to figure out how to hem a prom dress. It needed a narrow hem – easy enough – but I couldn’t use heat on the material, so it was a challenge. Finally ended up using a super fine machine embroidery bobbin thread in the top and bottom to stitch each fold in place and then a slightly heavier thread for the final stitching.
After the dress, I decided to work on my Jared Takes A Wife top. I stitched all of the star points and now I can’t do anything else until I cut more fabric. The green is going to be the sashing and the inner star points. There will be a narrow pink border between the sashing and the outer paisley border.
Before I do any more on JTAW, I’m going to finish the music baby quilt.

Most of the week was spent in contemplation of how to hem a prom dress. Once that was done I pieced a bit on Jared Takes A Wife, but since it is not complete, no fabric is counted — in or out.
Fabric added this week: 0 yards
Fabric added to date: 29.879 yards
Fabric used this week: 0 yards
Fabric used to date: 38.987 yards
Net used to date: 9.108 yards (and I still haven’t counted those shirt yet.)

Yesterday I posted a picture of my knitting which was laying on top of a table runner. One of my blog readers asked about the runner, so here it is.
Before I started quilting non-stop, I passed though Heirloom Sewing. I had a subscription to Sew Beautiful and several of the Martha Pullen books. My dream was to attend one of her week long schools. I didn’t get to do that, but I did attend a 3-day course when it was here in Kansas City 10-15 years ago.
During that class we learned to use the serger, sewing machine and embroidery machine to make beautiful heirloom items. The table runner is from that class.
Currently on the needles is Easy as Pie by Marisa Hernandez downloaded from Ravelry. At last count I’ve got 139 stitches on the needles. The pattern calls for 203 before starting the border, but I’ll have to do more than that to get the shawl anywhere near big enough for me. At least this time I won’t run out of yarn.

My goals this month are similar to last months. Perhaps I’ll stay focused this month.
Well, I’m off to work on the dress.
I’m a few days late with my March Recap. Mostly because I didn’t want to report that I didn’t make my goals. For March I had 5 things on my goal list:
“Visible” progress on the DWR means I can color in another section on the icon on the right. I didn’t even get one arc quilted in March.
Progress on Eeyore – well, I did trace off the patterns, but I hoped to have more progress.
The “O” block did get made.
Orca Bay is now ready for Step 7.
Not having completed the first 4 goals, I didn’t even attempt the Bonus goal.
But, I’m no longer feeling sorry for myself. In addition to the work pictured above, I really did get a lot done in March — just not the things I planned.
At the quilt retreat I made the Shamrock block. The modified 9-patches are for the Jared Takes a Wife quilt-along (the 4-patches were formerly my leader/ender project).
I quilted the red, white & blue quilt and made matching pillowcases to ship off for a birthday gift. Then I started a baby quilt, only to get bogged down in the border.
I finally attached a hanging sleeve to the mystery quilt that I designed so it could be photographed. The musical green pouch keeps the tools together my husband uses to fix music stands at school.
Not quilting, I finished this knitted shawl.
Then I started another one in much finer yarn and made a mini 10-minute runner.
I definitely got more done in March than I thought.
