QA Wednesday and Quilting Goals for September

A combination post today since not only is it Quilting Accountability Wednesday, it’s the first of September.

Overall, I don’t plan on slowing down — one of these days I may regret that, but hey, if I don’t get everything on my list done it wasn’t that important, or can roll over to next month. Here it is 8 months through the year and I’m pretty happy with what I have accomplished quilting wise and what I have left to finish. Essentially there are 4 things left on my list for the year that I’ll think I’ll accomplish:

  • Keep up with the Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler BOW
    • I missed some SBS blocks earlier in the year, but I plan on making an average of 2 blocks a week until the end of the year.  If I do this and make one extra, I’ll be at 60 for the year and 100 blocks overall.
  • Finish my Double  Wedding Ring Quilt
    • If I keep up with one ring every two days, I might not get it bound and on the bed by the end of November, but it will happen by the end of year.
  • Quilt one of my Bonnie Hunter Quilt tops
    • I now have six tops and two in the piecing stages.  I’m quilting Oklahoma Backroads (OB)  and would like to get it finished by mid-month
  • Quilt Green & Cream swap blocks – This is a quilt-as-you-go project.  I think I have 3 or 4 of the 20 blocks quilted.  I’m sure between now and the end of year I’ll be able to knock this out.

As for the 5th goal – finish anything I start – I’m not doing as well on this as I would like.  Blue Ridge Beauty and Star Struck are still being pieced.  Once I get the quilting of my machine, I’ll work on Star Struck and  use Blue Ridge Beauty as my leader/ender project.  Texas Braid has made it to the quilt top stage – so not so bad.  That leaves the Red, White & Blue shop hop sampler that I’ve started piecing the blocks – this has been set aside for the moment; the dragonfly quilt which I won’t start piecing until I get them all embroidered and the 3″ pinwheels which may or may not become a quilt.

So, for September the goals are:

  • At least 8 SBS blocks
  • The September KVQG BOM
  • Finish Quilting and Bind Oklahoma Backroads
  • Quilt at least 15 rings on the DWR
  • Make progress on the Cream & Green quilt
  • Make progress on Star Struck

Specifically for this next week since it includes a 3 day weekend:

  • Finish Oklahoma Backroads
  • Quilt daily on the DWR
  • Piece at least half of the remaining blocks ( I think that’s 20)
  • Piece 4 SBS blocks

I’ve probably over committed myself, but if I don’t aim high, I sure can’t  get there.
