What’s On My Design Wall
It’s still the graduation quilt Eye Fooler. I’ve cut into the border fabric and have a few blocks made. I need to finish cutting the black fabric for the rest of the triangle in a square units so I can finish the partial blocks on the wall. Then it will be time for the rest of the alternate blocks, a pieced border to finish out the pattern and finally a narrowish (3 -4″) outer border in gold.
My goal — to finish the piecing by the end of the month.

Stash Report
I haven’t done a stash report in a while simply because the numbers haven’t changed. I knew the numbers would change this week, I simply had no idea by how much.
The border fabric for the graduation quilt was finally purchased, but I haven’t finished the top yet. This was anticipated. What was completely unexpected was the generous gift of my friend’s scraps. Over 35 pounds! For one of my future quilts I need a length of red fabric and I found it in the boxes. So, that quilt will move up on my list.

She Sews!
Yes, I did. I’m working an software activation tomorrow evening and Saturday morning — which means a lot of waiting around until it’s time for me to do my thing. Guess where I’ll be during the waiting?
What’s On My Design Wall
This past week I sat down and finished sewing the bits and pieces that have been piled on my desk and cutting table for the past month. I even managed to make 6 of the alternate blocks. Those are going slower because I’m putting up each individual unit on the wall, trying to ensure the colors are somewhat separated.

What’s On My Design Wall
It’s the graduation quilt – Eye Fooler. There’s not much more done on it since the March recap last week. But I think I have all the pieces done, except for the triangle in a square blocks which will have the border fabric in them.
That’s not to say they are ready to be sewn into blocks yet. I still need to take the small HST blocks and piece them into a 3″ unit and the flying geese still need paired up. But they are off the corner of my desk!
The next step is to finish what I can of the border blocks. If I remember correctly, I sewed the 4-patches to the wrong side of the triangle in a square block.
Now if I can stay focused. Graduation is in 40 days!

While Searching for a Backing
Earlier this week while searching my stash for the Orca Bay backing, I found a bag with this pre-quilted panel and blanket binding. I was given it back after Christmas. So, I pulled it out and finished it. What was I stalling for? And the backing? I didn’t find it.
So, this evening more digging.
Look what I found!
My postage stamp blocks. I’ve been looking for them for at least a week, maybe longer as I have more pieces to add to the bag. I’m looking for a quilt a little over twice as big and I really think I was aiming for 4 times as big. Ask me again when I get it to 48″ x 60″, another 1520 squares away.
And the backing. I finally found it. So naturally I think I’m going to work on the graduation quilt. It’s needed in 7 weeks, and Orca Bay won’t be needed until it’s cold again in Atlanta.

This past week I’ve been playing with my stars. 10 new stars. As you can see Orca Bay is not yet sandwiched. I really need to do something about that this week. Or work on Eye Fooler. It’s still sitting on the corner of my desk.

What’s On My Design Wall
This past week I’ve been working on my stars. Star #99 still needs a few more pieces of background attached — then I’ve got to pick more star fabric.
So, this past weekend I started working on the Craigslist scraps – the ones I got back in October and whittled down to one crate. I’ve got them sorted by color or theme except for this last little bit in the crate.
There were piles covering all of my ironing board, but I had to make room for pressing. The blues have been pressed.
To clear the space, I moved the scraps to my treadle.
I hope to get through the scraps this week because I need to get back to the graduation quilt. I was reminded that there’s just two months until graduation.
