Packages in the Mail

The packages are in the mail!

Each one of the packages just needed one little thing before I could seal them up.  Took care of that last night, weighed them, bought postage on-line (love that feature!) and then, because there were 4 of them, took them to the post office.  I can now see over the top of my cutting table.

Now to find the top of the cutting table.

Bonnie Hunter Workshops

QA Wednesday

I’m posting this late because I went to a workshop yesterday and today, then came home and collapsed.

Last weeks goals:

  • Finish the Carolina Christmas Top. Right now, it looks like it will be one twin size quilt and two baby quilts. I hope to pull the border fabric from my stash for at least the baby quilts. – Twin and one baby quilt done. I’m having issues with the second quilt — namely I can’t decided what fabric to use from my stash.
  • Cut 200 red 2″ squares for the workshop I’m attending next week. – Done
  • Get the wall hanging, the comfort blocks and at least one baby quilt in the mail. — All of these are done, so it’s simply a matter of packaging — and think of the space I’ll have! — These packages are still sitting here on my cutting table. Ugh!

This weeks goals.

  • Get the wall hanging, the comfort blocks and at least one baby quilt in the mail. —  I’m shooting for in the morning.

That’s it.  Well, not really.  But the house is a disaster even by my standards, the laundry it piled up sky-high and I work this weekend.  Then there is the issue of what do I want to make progress on — Dancing Flowers, Oklahoma Backroads, Blue Ridge Beauty or Texas Braid.

I think I’ll just watch this week and see what others are planning on doing by following  the links at Bari’s.

Scraps

One of my goals for this year is to clear my scrap basket. It’s really only a six month goal, as this is one of my guild challenges and we have to have our challenges completed by the July meeting. This is what is left in my scrap basket. Purples, Pinks, Reds, Greens, Yellow/Orange/Brights, Lights/Browns, Blacks and wait — is that a pile of Blues? I thought I had them taken care of.

From this you might think I make a lot of purple, pink and red quilts. There might some truth to that, but it’s more a case of last year when I made my way through the basket I stopped before I got to the pinks and purples.

My scraps do not get tossed into the basket by color. Somewhere along the way I read that one way to keep motivated is to do all of a single color/style so you can see progress. I started following this when I was working on my Old Tobacco Road quilt. I dug through and pulled all the green and yellow. Obviously I’ve made some quilts with green since then.

The next time I have the urge to chop up fabric, I’ll pull one of these colors from my basket and start cutting. I really do want to see the bottom of that basket without me throwing the scraps on the floor or ironing board.

QA Wednesday

Last week a couple of simple goals:

  • Cut up the blue and neutral scraps – Finished.
  • Get at least half of the Carolina Christmas blocks sewn together – 3/4 of the large blocks are sewn

Amazing what you can check off the list if you limit your goals and focus.

Now for next week’s list.

  • Finish the Carolina Christmas Top.  Right now, it looks like it will be one twin size quilt and two baby quilts.  I hope to pull the border fabric from my stash for at least the baby quilts.
  • Cut 200 red 2″ squares for the workshop I’m attending next week.
  • Get the wall hanging, the comfort blocks and at least one baby quilt in the mail. — All of these are done, so it’s simply a matter of packaging — and think of the space I’ll have!

See if anyone else is limiting their goals by checking out the links at Bari’s.

Distracted

This week I outlined a couple of simple goals – deal with the blue and neutral scraps and get half of my Carolina Christmas blocks sewn together. I’ve made it through at least half of the scraps and I’ve sewn together a few of the Carolina Christmas blocks – but then I got distracted.

But then, instead of getting up and pressing the blocks, I pulled this drawer out. This is Oklahoma Backroads — or will be after I sew them together. Up to this point this has been my leader/ender project. But tonight these pieces were calling me, so I gave in to the distraction and finished up 10 blocks.

Perhaps now I can get back to this week’s goals.

QA Wednesday

This week I’m getting the Quilting Accountability report done on the correct day 🙂

Last week I outlined several things that wouldn’t need much to complete.  When I finally remembered to do my QA Report I simply wanted to make progress on at least two of these tasks.  I’m happy to report that I succeeded.

The label is on the quilt and I got the pillowcase made. I also finished the Dancing Flowers quilt top.

So what needs to be done this week?

These blue and neutral scraps need to be cut up for two reasons –

  1. I need blue and neutral pieces for the Blue Ridge Beauty workshop I’m attending in two weeks
  2. I need to empty the scrap basket by July.

Also on the list is making progress on the Carolina Christmas quilt top — I’m going to aim for at least half the blocks sewn together by next week.

Check out Bari’s and others’ lists of weekly goals over .

May’s Quilting Goals

It’s time to figure out what I want to accomplish this month. Again there’s probably too much on my list, but at least I know I’ll have one thing crossed off at the end of the month. I finished the pillowcase to go with the 4-Patch Strippy this morning!

  • Keep up with the SBS BOW  & make a few extra blocks
  • Work on Scrap Basket – specifically blues and neutrals
  • Complete the Carolina Christmas Top
  • Finish Dancing Flowers
  • Ship out 2 baby quilts
  • Resume hand quilting on the Double Wedding Ring
  • Make 4-patch pillow case – DONE!

April Recap

I had a lengthy list of goals for April. Didn’t do to well on them.

* Finish and Quilt Stripy 4-Patch Top – DONE
* Enter a quilt in the guild quilt show – Two quilts entered
* Complete the Carolina Christmas Top – Part 5 completed
* Finish and Quilt Dancing Flowers – ripped out what I did get done
* Resume hand quilting on the Double Wedding Ring – nothing
* Keep up with the Sylvia Bridal Sampler BOW – nothing
* Keep Scraps Cut Up and Make Progress on the Scrap Basket – did pull the blue scraps

Sewing the hanging sleeves took much longer than I expected. I also cut the fabric for Texas Braid, made dozens of pocket tissues covers and a few pincushions.

I’m still deciding on what I want to get done in May.

QA Wednesday on Friday

I have no idea why I didn’t get this posted Wednesday.

Last week two goals:

  • Finish sewing on the hanging sleeve for Music Lessons
  • Stuff pin cushions

Both were done by Thursday evening! I also finished Part 5 of Carolina Christmas.

Yesterday I outlined a few little (and not so little) things that I want to get done. So my goal for this week is to make progress on at least two of these tasks.

Check out Bari’s and others’ lists of weekly goals over My Crazy Quilting Life.
