Stash Report

No pictures today. There was no fabric brought into the house — it’s still out in the car. 🙂

My sister and I dug through a few more of Mom’s boxes Saturday and I found several lengths of fabric which came home with me. Once I bring it in and find a place for it, I’ll count it, and the rest of the fabric that’s still kicking around in moving boxes.

For all the fabric cutting that I did this week, I don’t have much to show for it on my report. My pre-cut pieces won’t get counted until I use them. I didn’t think I had any fabric to count, but there was the last bit for Oklahoma Backroads, and what I used on Dancing Flowers.

Here are the numbers:

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 79.431 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 1.578 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 32.911 yards

Net Stash for 2010: 46.52 yards

Stash Report

This week I pulled more Christmas fabric from Mom into my stash.

I also picked up a cute FQ at the quilt show last week and the fabric I’ll need to finish up Dancing Flowers and the Black and Bright Swap.  I know what you are thinking — “What is she thinking putting the turquoise and lime in Dancing Flowers?”  You’ll just have to come back tomorrow to see my design wall.

Outbound, I made the pillow case and got a few more squares stitched on Oklahoma Backroads.  It sure doesn’t add up fast when you count as you use it and it’s a leader/ender project!

So here’s this week’s tally.

Fabric Added this Week: 17.25 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 79.431 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 1.087 yards

Stash Report

Not much fabric used this week. The pincushions didn’t use up much fabric — in fact, I had trouble closing my strings box afterward — I think they multiplied when my back was turned. I worked on Carolina Christmas, sewing blocks together, so no new fabric used there, but I can count the squares used as the leader/enders for Oklahoma Backroads.

On the other hand, I pulled out some of Momma’s fabric to wash and put away. I’ve got to get a bigger box for Christmas fabric. A new box of Shout Color Catchers is needed as well. After washing, the first one was RED. The black fabric went in the dryer and the red back through the wash. The second time the catcher was only PINK so I went ahead and dried it.

So here’s this week’s tally.

Fabric Added this Week: 19 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 62.181 yards

Fabric Used this Week: .325 yards

Net Stash for 2010: 31.935 yards

Stash Report

This past week I managed to get into 4 quilt shops, but yet, I didn’t bring home much fabric. Quilt shop #1 was a stop for my secret sister gift. 4 great 1/2 yard cuts, plus a book mark for each of us. Quilt shop #2 I couldn’t find an exact match to replace a binding (I did make the binding nearly 4 years ago), so only a FQ to make a couple of quilt labels. Quilt shop # 3 a couple of 30’s FQs for my SBS, a red and green diagonal stripe for my Christmas sampler and the cutest music panel and coordinating yardage (1 yard). Quilt shop # 4 sent a gift bag which included a FQ to each retreater (darn — I forgot to get it in the picture). A very cute store, I only bought Thread Conditioner, as I bought more than I intended at store # 3.

The array of 30’s FQs on the right and the cow FQ on the left came from my secret sister.

Fabric used this week was minimal. Dark squares on Oklahoma Backroads and fabric for a hanging sleeve.

Here’s the report:

Fabric Added this Week: 5.57yards
Fabric Added to Date: 43.181 yards

Fabric Used this Week: .379 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 29.921 yards

Net Stash for 2010: 13.26 yards

Stash Report

This was a good week fabric wise. I finished the 4-patch stripy top which used a bit of fabric for one border (the other 3 were already cut). Then the quilt needed a backing. There were also bits and pieces to the pieced band in the middle of the backing, background fabric for Dancing Flowers, 50 2″
squares for the Oklahoma Backroads leader/ender project and a couple of yards of fabric for gifts and quilt boutique items.

Inbound was nearly as good, considering I was in 2 quilt shops this week, plus Jo-Ann’s. At the first shop I picked up the binding fabric for the 4-patch quilt, and background fabric for my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler — all of this was part of the semi-annual Bolt Sale.

The only other inbound fabric was the Laurel Burch panel and coordinating fabrics. These fabrics came from my mom’s sewing room. Last week I did a quick dig and brought some fabric home. Yesterday my sister and I went through all the fabric on the shelves. Turns out she had more quilting cottons than I thought. I haven’t figured out how much I brought home yet. I’ll count it as I integrate it into my stash.

Stash Report

This week I worked on my brother’s shirts. Nothing like cutting up one shirt to add length to 3 others. I just hope I got them long enough. Once those were done, I pulled out Stripy 4-Patch and started sewing it together. Since the strips were already cut, I can’t count them, but hopefully I’ll get to the point this week that I’ll need a backing for it. The only fabric I used this week are the leader/enders for Oklahoma BackRoads. Good thing I didn’t count it when I pulled it for the project.

Inbound is the fabric I bought from Connecting Threads that arrived Friday.

This week I took Music Lessons into the quilt shop as it is one of my UFQs for the year. It’s been done for a while, but I hadn’t had a chance to get to the shop and remember the quilt on the same trip. I got out of the store with only a single FQ from the American Jane collection as my reward for finishing the quilt.

I finished a few more Poinsettia Star blocks from Carolina Christmas. That fabric is counted, so I only was able to count the squares I’m using as my leader/enders from Oklahoma Backroads. I also completed 2 more blocks for my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler.

Stash Report

The plan early in the week was to go to a friend’s home and quilt all day Saturday. Winter Spring had other ideas. It snowed all night and day Saturday. My husband and I took my niece home Friday night. It had started to sleet and snow by the time we left at midnight. The hour drive took 2 1/2 hours. Needless to say, the gathering was canceled and I slept late Saturday. The snow seems to be stopped. I haven’t ventured out to see how much snow is on the table.

This past week I spent most of my quilting time chopping up the shirts from last week. I ended up with just over 14 yards of unique cotton plaids and stripes for my quilts. Not bad for a bit of time and roughly $18. This count does not include the shirts I liberated from my husband. They have not been cut up yet.

I finally sat down at the sewing machine for the first time in a month last night. I sewed a single Poinsettia Star from Carolina Christmas. This fabric is already counted, but when I opened my leader/ender drawer I discovered a stack of Oklahoma Backroad pieces which were sewn when I was working on my mom’s quilt which didn’t get counted.

I’m in the red at the moment — maybe I’ll put off chopping up my husband’s shirts until after I work on something which uses fabric from my stash 🙂

Nothing out. Only shirts in. But I haven’t figured out how to measure the shirts yet. I guess after I cut them up I’ll figure out how much usable fabric I got from each one.

Nothing In, Nothing Out. I’ve been working, sleeping or sitting with Momma at the hospital all week.

Mom was readmitted to the hospital Monday night. They moved her from the med/surg floor to CCCU (comprehensive cardiac care unit) Saturday morning. She’s sleeping under her quilt. Turns out it’s just the right size for a hospital bed.
