Stash Report

With the finish of Mom’s quilt and pillowcase, and this week’s SBS block, I used a tad over 1 3/4 yards. However, I’m itching to buy a stack of 30’s FQs for the SBS quilt. I’m getting bored with what I’ve got in my bin. But, since I need to send in my retreat fee’s shortly, those 30’s FQs will have to wait.

Here’s the report:

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 11.264 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 1.792 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 21.621 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -10.357 yards

Who knows, at this rate I might just use 100 yards and reduce my stash by 50 by the end of the year. See how others are doing over at Patchwork Times.

Stash Report

Generally, I sew every day. This week I didn’t turn my sewing machine on until Saturday afternoon. I finally got the borders on mom’s quilt, and I got the backing made. So today, I get to baste and start the quilting.

This week’s report is as follows:

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 11.264 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 4.341 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 19.829 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -8.565 yards

Stash Report

This week the only piecing I got done was sewing blocks together for 3 rows on Mom’s quilt and sewing the rows together. There are 3 more rows plus the borders, then I can start quilting. The quilt fabric has already been counted, but I used a few more squares on the Oklahoma Backroads as leader/enders which I can count.

Saturday my brother came to town and stayed with my mother to give me a break. I hit 3 quilt shops to get fabric for a sweatshirt my mom wants me to decorate for her, the backing for her birthday quilt (lavender) and one impulse buy for me — the cat panel. Then I took a nap. My brother is with Mom this morning and my sister is driving in for this afternoon. I’m going to take another nap and work on Mom’s quilt and sweatshirt today before I head back to the hospital. Surprisingly, I’m still ahead of my stash.

This week’s report is as follows:

Fabric Added this Week: 9.58 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 11.264 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 0.217 yards (50 2 1/2″ squares)
Fabric Used to Date: 15.488 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -4.224 yards

Stash Report

There simply was not a whole lot of quilting going on this week. I still don’t have the SBS block made (I have until midnight to get it done to enter the drawing) and I still only have the 1st row of the new quilt sewn together. However, I did finish this redwork block while I’ve been up at the rehab center with my mom.

This week’s report is as follows:

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 1.684 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 0.087 yards (20 2 1/2″ squares)
Fabric Used to Date: 15.271 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -13.587 yards

Stash Report

It was a good week. I stopped at a quilt shop on the way to the guild meeting, but only picked up 4 FQ and a Thimblelady Thimble. I also am counting the charm pack I won from Prairie Moon Quilts.

Lots of little projects to use up fabrics – binding for Music Lessons, SBS BOW, cut the binding for Ladder to the Stars so I won’t use it for something else, finished Part 4 of Carolina Christmas and the last 40 pickets for Oklahoma Backroads and then cut fabric for a new quilt. Believe it or not, it only adds up to 5.469 yards.

Fabric Added this Week: 1.0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 1.684 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 5.469 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 15.184 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -13.5 yard

I’m pretty happy with my totals so far. Next week or the week after I’ll have to buy backing, for the new quilt, but it will get counted out almost immediately.

Stash Report

This past week my focus was on quilting the Double Wedding Ring and Music Quilt, so the only fabric used was for the weekly Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler block. Check out Judy‘s page to see if anyone elses stashes is shrinking.

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 0.25 yards

Fabric Used this Week: .125 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 9.715 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -9.215 yards

Stash Report

After what seems like months of me saying I’m going to put the borders on Ladder to the Stars, I’m happy to report that they are done! In addition to this top, I made 4 swap blocks, a SBS block and 100 pickets for Oklahoma Backroads. All had fabric I can count in this week’s report.

There was no fabric in, and I spent an hour in a quilt shop. Admittedly signing up for the UFQ Program — UnFinished Quilts. I’ve picked 5 quilts that I want to make significant progress on — 4 are to be completed and bound, the 5th on I’m just aiming to get the top complete.

Here are the totals:

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 0.25 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 3.664 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 9.59 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -9.09 yards

Stash Report

This is the start of my second year participating in Judy’s Stash Report at Patchwork Times.  It is a new year, so I’ve reset my counters, since I still don’t know the total size of my stash. Although I can tell you how much larger it is today that it was a year ago.

I won’t pretend that I’ll escape the year without fabric coming into the house. Already I’ve received a FQ as a gift (Thank you, C!) and since I’m participating in a birthday FQ swap, I’ll pick up about 4 yards in May. Again the primary goal is simply to be observant as to what comes into the house.

On the outbound side, it would be nice hit the 100 yard mark again. I think I’ve got about 50 yards “planned” if I get everything done on my list. If I don’t hit 100 yards, I’d be happy to come closer to breaking even.

This past week I worked on Carolina Christmas and Oklahoma Backroads. And I cut the binding for Raising Cane so I wouldn’t accidently use it before I needed it.

Here are the totals:

Fabric Added this Week: 0.25 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 0.25 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 5.926 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 5.926 yards

Net Stash for 2010: -5.426 yards

I wonder how long I’ll have more out than in?

Stash Report Week # 52

Well, here it is my final stash busting report of the year. I started these reports to play along with Judy at Patchwork Times and to see exactly how much fabric was coming into the house and then being used. While I was at it I tracked all of my expenditures — thread, patterns, notions, classes, etc. I must say it’s been an eye opener.

This past week I had fabric coming in and going out. My LQS had a 40% off coupon — first one I think I’ve ever seen in 5 year. So, I bought 6 yards of bright white on white. I’ll use it to finish up Carolina Christmas and then put whatever is left back in the stash. Along with the WOW I was given a Civil War charm pack. So 6.69 yards in this week.

I didn’t quite use as much as I brought in this week. I made a baby quilt from Dorothy Young’s current mystery quilt Raising Cane. Two more borders and then I have top and 2 yards out of my stash. This week I also made a pillowcase, bound two labels (didn’t discover the error until I started to put it on the quilt), and I’m counting the fabric I’ve used so far in my leader/ender project Oklahoma Backroads. In all that’s just shy of 5 1/2 yards.

Fabric Added this Week: 6.69 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 289.273 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 5.487 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 114.263 yards

Net Stash: +283.786 yards

It doesn’t look like it, but I was more selective in my purchases. I can only think of two or three yards of fabric (or FQ equivalent) that I bought just because I liked it. Most of my purchases were either everything I needed to make a quilt (which I still haven’t done) or to finish something I was working on. The rest of the inbound number is the result of generous friends who know I love making scrap quilts and they where cleaning out their own stash. It’s taken 24 years, but my husband has finally said “no more fabric”. And I agree, until I get some of what I have worked up. Then, we’ll see.

Stash Report Week # 51

Finished the back to the music quilt and I made the back and cut the binding for the 4-patch Race Cars. I’m going to try and get it quilted today. Nothing fancy, diagonal stitching through the squares and cornerstones. I’m not sure what I’ll do in the border.

Fabric Added this Week: 0 yards
Fabric Added to Date: 282.583 yards

Fabric Used this Week: 3.35 yards
Fabric Used to Date: 108.776 yards

Net Stash: +173.807 yards
