Stash Report Week #20

It’s been a really long week. Orchestra Concert Monday night that I audio taped for. Tuesday was the band tour (4 concerts, also audio taped) and evening concert (video tape). Wednesday I finally got going around noon and did a quick run through the MQS show and vendors — Got away virtually unscathed there $2.55 for scissor tip protectors.

Somewhere along the way my pink fabric for the BQ2 came in. But I didn’t get to work on it since I needed to St Louis. Of course that meant stopping at quilt shops along the way. Again, I did pretty good on the way over — a pkg of Tiger Tape, and a thimble. It was the stop on the way home that did me in.

Who knew you could find a quilt shop open on Saturday until 8 PM? Corner Quilt Fabrics is located in the Warrenton Outlet Center and they keep mall hours – except for the occasional Sunday or holiday. I picked up 4 blue FQs – I’ve got a blue, white & yellow quilt I’m planning on making, and I need to make some blue and yellow blocks for a swap I’m in. I also picked up a couple of reds and a green for the extra blocks I want to make to go with the Christmas Swap Blocks. I can’t explain the butterfly print except to say it was pretty.

So, here are the damages:

Stash Report Week #19

Early in the week I opene a box of fabric which wasn’t sorted. I was surprised to findthe exact blue and gold fabrics I need to work on my Ladder to the Stars quilt. I completely forgotten that I ened up buying extra last summer for the 12″ version of the quilt. Admittedly, there’s not enough to complete my 6″ version, but there’s enough to get started on the pieced sashings. So the cornerstones are cut, and I’ve got 3 of the sashings cut. The only other thing I pieced this week was the Kansas Trouble block for the Kansas Spirt quilt.

In coming fabric was limited to 2 yards of a deep purple to use in a couple of BQ2 quilts featureing a peacock fabric. The pink will come in next week and I should be able to knock out the quilt tops in no time. When I bought the peacock fabric 2 years ago, I wasn’t certain what I was going to make wiht it. I also bought a yard of purple and a yard of pink to go with it. While at retreat I saw the BQ2 pattern made up in Christmas fabric and thought it would be great for my peacock fabric.

So, here’s the report.

These charms were my other purchases this week. I don’t have a lot of Christmas prints in my stash, but these spoke to me. I’ve already got an idea on how to use them, but of course that could change at least 2 or 3 times before I get it done.

This week I’ve been sewing on my 6″ block, the fabric was cut and counted last week.

Stash Report Week #17

More fabric came in than went out this week. Included in the incoming fabric is fabric to make my husband a shirt – or to use as the backing of his music quilt, 3 pretty yellow FQs, binding for my pink and brown quilt and 3/4 yard of a beige print I’ve been looking for to finish up another quilt. Oh, yes, I bought the red fabric I need for a new quilt I’m starting. I still need the gold and blue and will get it Tuesday night while it’s still on sale.

On the outgoing side of things, I cut the binding for my OTR and have it sewn together and with the quilt top, and I cut the pieces for the new quilt I’m starting. 32 six inch blocks. Boy are those pieces tiny. 4-patches that finish at 2 inches. The cut pieces fit into a single sandwich bags. What have I gotten my self into?

Stash Report Week # 16

This report is a couple of days late as I didn’t get back from my quilt retreat until Monday evening and then I collapsed! Too much fun and then too much driving. I finished four quilt tops (3 only needed borders and the 4th just needed the blocks sewn together) over the weekend, and got the inner border added to a 5th quilt. The side bars have been updated, and I’ll get pictures added later this week.

I did not stay out of the quit stores though, so the report is mixed.

My machine is in the shop for a check up/cleaning, so there won’t be much used up this week.

Stash Report Week #15

This past week I made a gift for a secret sister exchange, the Decadent Victorian Jacket and the Kansas Troubles Stash Society binder cover.

Fabric bought includes the binding fabric for the jacket – I wanted long unpieced bias strips, so that was a yard – most of which ended up in the stash, a music themed FQ, and FQs for a gift. Technically, the gift FQs aren’t going into my stash, but I didn’t setup my spreadsheet to track gift purchases separately.

Stash Report Week #14

No dent in my stash this week, although I did get my geese sewn together and one more row sewn together on the music quilt.

On the other hand, I did bring fabric into the house. Last Sunday, when Sandra, the list mom from Stashbusters, was in town, we got together for a visit. She gave me a couple of potholders she made (and I’ve enjoyed using this week) and a yard of pretty green fabric.

Friday morning I picked up the yardage for the borders to OTR. Saturday another 1 1/2 yards for a bag I’m making for a gift. But it was Saturday afternoon which really caused my stash to grow.

A friend of a friend had fabric from her mother’s or grandmother’s estate. The boxes contained a little of everything, about 1/2 of it cotton. Of the cotton I brought home 13 pieces. I just finished measuring it. There’s 48 1/4 yards there — but it’s all 36″ wide. I did some fancy math to figure out what the works out to in 42″ wide fabric on the theory that if a pattern today calls for 1 yard of fabric, 1 yard of this vintage fabric won’t be enough — I’ll need about 42″.

No fabric purchases, just the hot fix tool and a couple of bags of crystals for the Poinsetta quilt.

I did get plenty of pieceing done this week, but it was fabric I had cut prior to the fist of the year, so I’m not counting it.

No fabric in or out this week. I did however aquire a box of buttons from the Kansas City Freecycle list (Thanks, Nancy!) and a ruler. Technically the ruler is my DHs. He bought it to use when he does seating charts for his band concerts.

Stash Report Week # 11

I still don’t have the Poinsetta quilt bound. I got called from work and spent most of the day working. I took a quick nap, ate dinner and then settled in for the evening shift. That went a lot smoother, but I still had to hang around, so I worked on the pieced sashings for the music quilt. The fabric was already cut for the sashing, so I’m only counting the fabric I cut for the binding.
