I may not have gotten everything on my list for June done, but I’m please with what I did get done – whether it was on my list or not.
Now to figure out what I want/need to get done in July.
When it comes to quilting, I always think I can get more done than I can in the amount of time I have available. This month will probably prove the point. Of these 5 projects I want to completely finish 2 of them and get the other 3 tops made.
Top left – Jared Takes a Wife. Two seams on each block and then a simple set with sashing and cornerstones. Middle left – Orca Bay. I think I have all the pieces sew for the center of the quilt – I still need to finish piecing the border. Bottom left – Eeyore. Still in pieces.
Top Right – Scrappy Trips Around the World – I’m planning on quilting this on the treadle. I brought the backing fabric up from the basement this morning. Bottom Right – Candy Sunflower Seeds. It has a pieced border which I’ve been working on as my leader/ender.
If I only focus on these 5 quilts, it could happen. I leave for a quilt retreat in two weeks. My plan is to focus on Eeyore and hopefully finish him. Then at the retreat I should be able to finish the 3 quilt tops. (That is if I don’t take all the projects I have stacked on the ironing board to take with me – 3 new quilts and 2 to finish.) Which means I’ll have a week and a half to get Scrappy Trips quilted.
I’ve taken stock of what I want to accomplish quilt wise this month and it is going to be a challenge.
The most pressing thing to do this month was to finish the baby quilt – which I did before I started making this list, so it didn’t make the list. While I’m waiting for it to come out of the wash, I’m going to make the P block, then it will be time to start prepping the quilts for quilting.

My goals this month are similar to last months. Perhaps I’ll stay focused this month.
Well, I’m off to work on the dress.
I’m a few days late with my March Recap. Mostly because I didn’t want to report that I didn’t make my goals. For March I had 5 things on my goal list:
“Visible” progress on the DWR means I can color in another section on the icon on the right. I didn’t even get one arc quilted in March.
Progress on Eeyore – well, I did trace off the patterns, but I hoped to have more progress.
The “O” block did get made.
Orca Bay is now ready for Step 7.
Not having completed the first 4 goals, I didn’t even attempt the Bonus goal.
But, I’m no longer feeling sorry for myself. In addition to the work pictured above, I really did get a lot done in March — just not the things I planned.
At the quilt retreat I made the Shamrock block. The modified 9-patches are for the Jared Takes a Wife quilt-along (the 4-patches were formerly my leader/ender project).
I quilted the red, white & blue quilt and made matching pillowcases to ship off for a birthday gift. Then I started a baby quilt, only to get bogged down in the border.
I finally attached a hanging sleeve to the mystery quilt that I designed so it could be photographed. The musical green pouch keeps the tools together my husband uses to fix music stands at school.
Not quilting, I finished this knitted shawl.
Then I started another one in much finer yarn and made a mini 10-minute runner.
I definitely got more done in March than I thought.
March’s goals in many ways are a repeat of February’s goals.
I’ll work on the DWR this month in smaller increments. I irritated my wrist last month with my marathon quilting session.
Same goal for Eeyore — get the applique done.
Orca Bay is this weekend’s retreat project. I’m working on the red string blocks which I’m making in purple. I’ll probably put the project away after the retreat and save it for the next one since I didn’t work on Eeyore at all in February.
Now if I can keep the knitting going along, but not taking over, I might just get this list done. Of course having 3 more days in the month will make a difference too.

I got distracted. There was the baby quilt from the Deadline III pattern; applique flowers started (what’s up with that?) and a bit of knitting.
There’s no picture of the knitting but night before last I got to the last row before the border and decided I need to make the shawl bigger, so I think I need to do 6 more repeats. But then I dropped a stitch and I’ve got to rip back to fix it — that’s what happened to my other twisty pin – it’s stuck in my knitting.
Anyway I hope to get back on track with quilting starting with a retreat I’m going to this evening and tomorrow. How much retreating I get done will depend on how much I get called from work. Fortunately I’m only 20 minutes away so I can do both.
I’ve reviewed my Quilting Goals for the year and have picked several that I’m planning on working on this month.
I’ll post my progress through the month and at the end of the month we’ll see if I was able to accomplish my goals.
4 UFOs are crossed off the list, 1 quilt in progress moved up, progress on a UFO, kept up with the BOM and 2 new projects started and finished (log cabin & pillowcase). Not bad for a month’s work.
