October Recap/November Goals

  • Continue quilting the Double Wedding Ring — can I get 3 rows done by Halloween? –Yes & No
  • Make the September & October KVQG BOM – No
  • Prep backing for quilt* – Yes!
  • Bind quilt*- Yes!
  • Make progress on Cream & Green quilt – Yes!

A  mixed month, but lots of progress regardless.  No, I didn’t get three rows quilted on the DWR, but I did hit the halfway mark (total of 4 rows quilted) and I’ve got two more rings quilted on row five.  So I’m plowing ahead full speed as long as my wrist holds out.

Another month and I’ve blown off the Guild BOM.  Maybe I’ll get caught up in December. (Yes, I’m already planning on blowing off the November block.)

Prep the backing and bind a quilt — Yes!  That’s the row quilt I took down to Rocking Chair Quilts and finished on the 18th.

Make “progress” on the Cream & Green quilt.  – I ripped out all of the quilting I had done previously (6 blocks) and I have 5 blocks quilted uniformly.  There are twenty blocks so I’m 1/4 of the way through.  Still  need to figure how to quilt the sashing and then exactly how I’m going to put it together.  I have a rough idea, but I need to think it through.

So all of the specified goals have been accounted for.   Additionally, I completed the Star Struck quilt top, have sewn 1/2 of the Blue Ridge Beauty Blocks into rows, started working on a mini quilt and started a quilt which needs to be done by late Spring.

All in all, I’m happy with what I accomplished this month.

NOVEMBER QUILTING GOALS

  • Continue quilting the Double Wedding Ring – how much can I get done by the end of the month?
  • Make progress on Cream & Green quilt
  • Complete center of Blue Ridge Beauty
  • Finish quilting center of Compass Lone Star

Just a few things on the list this month – three of the four are on my list to do by the end of the year so I want to focus.  I think the reason I’ve not been able to pick a leader/ender project is that I really want to finish these quilts.   So, check in with me throughout the month to see how much progress I made on these quilts and if I end up starting something new.

August Quilting Goals

This month I hope to spend more time in my sewing room. I don’t have to work any weekends, so that will help tremendously. My Double Wedding Ring and my Sylvia’s Bridal Sampler quilts have not been touched for months, so I really need to get back to these two quilts. Naturally there are other bits and pieces I’d like to accomplish as well.

  • Keep up with the SBS BOW and the monthly Offline Quilters’ challenges.  This month the goal is 5 blocks on row A.   Who knows what the BOW will bring.  The end result should be 10 more blocks toward the 140.
  • Three 12″ blocks – two are for a swap and one is the KVQG BOM.  I should get the BOM pattern sometime next week.
  • Quilt, Bind and Label the baby 1000 Pyramids – since I’m waiting for the baby to be born, the label might roll to September.
  • Resume quilting on the DWR.  I’ve taken the quilt from the floor frame and put it in the lap hoop.  Last night I worked on it for a while.  I’ll get back to you on how I like the hoop.
  • Finish piecing the Star Struck blocks.  This would be a good project for a sew-in with my quilting buddies.  We haven’t had one of those for a while.
  • Quilt my Texas Braid. Alright, I admit it.  This is my long shot.

Will I finish everything I’ve put out on my list?  Who knows.  Check back with me through the month to see.

Monthly Goals

I’m thrilled that I accomplished nearly everything on my January Quilting Goal List:

  • Finish the Double Wedding Ring Top – Done 1/5

  • Finish Mom’s birthday quilt

December 2009 Quilting Goals

Here’s a quick recap of November Goals first:

* Keep up with the SBS BOW – no

* Finish the hand quilting on Josh’s Quilt – Finished and given!

* Finish piecing the DWR – no (why haven’t I got this done?)

* Complete Finishing Instructions for large Kansas Spirit BOM – finished (technically in December)

* Keep Scraps Cut Up – yes

I’ve gone back over my goals that I’ve listed over the year both here on my blog and on the Quilt in a Day Forum. After a review here’s the list of what I didn’t get done that I’d like to see done by the end of the year.

* Get the DWR on the quilt frame and quilt 11 rings by the end of the year.

* Get the borders on Autumn Splendor

* Get the borders on Ladder to the Stars

* Catch up on November’s SBS Blocks (D1, E4, M7, B3 & J5)

* Complete the quilting on my Green and Cream swap blocks (quilting in sections)

* Prep the applique for a quilt so I have handwork

* Quilt a baby quilt

* Keep Scraps Cut Up

If that is not enough, I’d like to get the backing pieced to my DH’s music quilt. That will push me over 100 yards of fabric used this year.

I must be crazy. Even with 2 weeks of vacation I’m not certain I can get all of this done.

November 2009 Quilting Goals

Since I didn’t do so well on last month’s goals, it’s more of the same.

* Keep up with the SBS BOW

* Finish the hand quilting on Josh’s Quilt

* Finish piecing the DWR

* Complete Finishing Instructions for large Kansas Spirit BOM

* Keep Scraps Cut Up

Review of October 2009 Quilting Goals

The month is over, so how did I do? Well, not as good as previous months, but it could have been worse.

I also made a pineapple block to try out a new-to-me technique.

Review of September 2009 Quilting Goals

Another month has gone by, so it’s time to review what I accomplished this month.

* Complete remaining 2 sets of blocks for the SBS Brown/Blue Swap

Finished and in the mail by 9/8

* Keep up with the SBS BOW

It was close, but all blocks were made and turned in on time.

* Work on Josh’s Quilt – needs to be off the frame by 10/15

3 1/2 blocks hand quilted — 1 1/2 blocks to go!

* Work on DWR – top needs to be done by 10/15

12 rings added to the quilt and 6 more are partially pieced

* Complete Finishing Instructions for both sizes of Kansas Spirit BOM

Small quilt needs one more correction. Large quilt about 50% done. (the easy 50%) 🙂

* Quilt a baby quilt

Ran out of time.

* Keep Scraps Cut Up

Well my scraps were cut up, but my friend’s scraps have filled the basket back up!

I also cut the gold fabric for my Ladder to the Stars quilt and I managed to not start anything new. What more can a girl ask for who has more UFOs and Quilt Tops than she can count on her fingers and toes?

Next month will be more of the same. I’ve got my list ready to go.

Mid-September Update

September 15th and time to review my goals for the month. Where did the 1st two weeks of September go?

* Complete remaining 2 sets of blocks for the SBS Brown/Blue SwapDone and Mailed
* Keep up with the SBS BOW: 3 of the 4 blocks done
* Work on Josh’s Quilt – needs to be off the frame by 10/15 – quilting while watching Leno
* Work on DWR – top needs to be done by 10/15 — 4 melons completed, 9 more need cornerstones
* Complete Finishing Instructions for both sizes of Kansas Spirit BOM – still tweaking smaller layout instructions
* Quilt a baby quilt – may give this up completely
* Keep Scraps Cut Up – don’t look in my scrap bin. I added those scraps I found at the beginning of the month — but I have 2 more weeks to get to them!

Doesn’t seem like I have much done, but I guess I really am halfway through my list. I’ll keep plugging away at it.

September 2009 Quilting Goals

Since it appears that listing my quilting goals here and on a large printout by my computer helped, I’m doing it again.

* Complete remaining 2 sets of blocks for the SBS Brown/Blue Swap

G10 – Arizona

L6 – Steps to the Altar

* Keep up with the SBS BOW

* Work on Josh’s Quilt – needs to be off the frame by 10/15

* Work on DWR – top needs to be done by 10/15

* Complete Finishing Instructions for both sizes of Kansas Spirit BOM

* Quilt a baby quilt

* Keep Scraps Cut Up

This is a relatively modest list this month. But I’m itching to start something new and I have several kits so that might happen as well. On the other hand I realized today that I have more quilt tops waiting to be quilted than I do quilts in various stages of progress, so maybe I can talk myself into quilting 2 quilts instead of starting something new.
